Deeply Rooted Organics is donating a hand-made Soil Cube Tool to one lucky reader. Will it be you?
Modeled after technology similar to that used by the ancient Aztecs, the soil cube tool makes small 2″ cubes of soil that you sow your seeds in and grow them into seedlings before putting them out in the garden.
Deeply Rooted founder Clayton says that this method is easier on the plants because it doesn’t hurt the root system and eliminates shock with transplanting. It’s also a fantastic precycling idea, since there is no plastic or other type of container to dispose of. Soil Cube Tools are also handmade, to help you keep your Handmade Pledge.
There are some videos of the soil cube tool on his site, including “how to,” a product review, and the awesome Soil Cube Tool Propaganda video.
Clay is a former techie, permaculture gardener, and furniture maker. You can tell by the construction of the soil cube tool – like art for your yarden. We got ours in the mail last week but haven’t been able to use it yet due to work and rain. Check out his other products, like the Kenyan Top Bar Beehive, which looks perfect for a micro bee keeping operation.
How to enter to win the Soil Cube Tool
U.S. residents (only) simply add your name to the comments of this post before midnight PST this Saturday, April 1st. This is a random drawing, so profound and insightful comments are appreciated, but will not help you win.
NOTE: It may take me a little while to approve your comment from the queue – do not despair, I’m just out in the yarden.
